I noticed that he hasn't visited the forum since January 9.  Hopefully, he's just enjoying a nice long vacation...

Maybe send a private message?
Hope everthing is going well, Fred!

I've sent an email to him via the link from his profile.  I also reported a spam post which should also trigger an email alert for him.

No response yet.

Real sad news. I also had tried to contact Fred. We once in while chatted a little on the phone. Today I had to find out that Fred had died on January 9, 2013 at the age of 75 years. I spoke to his wife Lynda today, she told me that Fred had suffered a heart attack and died immediately.

Here is the text of the Obituary:

Fred did a fantastic job on SQLitening and by giving us the source code
did not abandon us.  He will be deeply missed.  I will continue to use
the software and I hope Paul Squires continues to host this site.

Really sad to hear.  He only lived a couples of miles from me and I had always hoped to meet him but we never found a time to get together. Life gallups by.  He seemed to me such a good person.

Bern Ertl

I feared that might be the case.  I will always be grateful for his patience and attention to my thoughts and inquiries on his baby (SQLitening).

Condolences to his family and friends.

Very sad news indeed. Another one of my programming heroes gone.
Fred helped me out many times when I would pose a question here on the forum regarding SQLitening. He will truly be missed. My condolences to his wife and family !

I think it was most probably his wife Lynda or one of his children.
